Small classes in Wandsworth near Clapham Junction SW11. Discover precision in motion and calm in mind — join my classes to build strength, stability, and inner peace through alignment and mindful progression. All levels are welcome.
My yoga journey began in my twenties while travelling in Southeast Asia, where I first experienced the calming, transformative benefits of yoga and meditation alongside studying Tibetan Buddhism.
It was discovering Iyengar Yoga that truly revolutionised my practice — I was captivated by its precision and depth, and the connection deepened further during my first pregnancy, when the method's supportive nature made me feel completely guided through every physical shift. I began my teacher training after moving to London in 2013, completing it after the birth of my second child, and have kept up continuous professional development since — including a formative trip to Pune in 2018 to study under Prashant and Geeta Iyengar. Committed to continuous growth, I regularly deepen my practice through advanced workshops with senior teachers and by assisting in therapy classes in Maida Vale.
Over the years I've worked with a wonderfully diverse community — complete beginners, seasoned practitioners, women moving through the birth cycle from prenatal to postnatal, and people navigating chronic health issues or injuries. My approach is to meet you exactly where you are on any given day: whether you arrive high-energy or low-energy, injured or athletic, the practice adapts to you, using props and tailored modifications to make it deeply restorative or vibrant and strong as needed.
For me, yoga is far more than asana and pranayama — it's a complete way of living mindfully, on and off the mat. I'm glad to share it with you, not just as a teacher, but as a fellow lifelong student.
Whether you're a complete beginner or experienced, every class is open to you.
I tailor each session to the room—challenging seasoned practitioners while supporting anyone with specific issues or injuries. I may occasionally offer suggestions to guide you, but the main thing is simply to step onto the mat.

A few things that help your practice — and everyone else's — go smoothly.
Comfortable, stretchy clothing you can move in. Because alignment is key, it helps if your knees are visible — shorts or leggings work well. All classes are practised barefoot, so no need for socks or footwear.
Best practised with a two-to-three hour gap after a main meal. Drink water mainly before and after class rather than during, to keep digestion comfortable.
A few minutes early gives you time to settle and set up your space. If you're running late and we've already begun our opening chant, please wait outside until we move to the first asana.
We share equipment and practise closely, barefoot — arriving clean is a mark of respect for the props, yourself, and the students beside you. In yoga philosophy this is Saucha, one of the Niyamas for healthy living.
Please mute your phone completely and put it away — vibrate still carries, and alarms should be off. If you're expecting something urgent, just let me know and I'll keep an eye out for you.
Please bring your own mat. If you're not sure which mat or if you'd like to bring more props — just ask, I'm always happy to advise.
One of the world's most widely practised traditions — renowned for precision, anatomical alignment, and a promise that everybody can do this, regardless of physical limitation.
The method was founded by Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar (1918–2014), introduced to yoga as a sickly teenager by his guru T. Krishnamacharya. He transformed his own health through relentless personal practice, then spent his life refining how to teach it to others.
In the 1950s he began travelling to the West, bringing his teaching to London — featured in a landmark 1963 BBC broadcast alongside his student, the violinist Yehudi Menuhin. His 1966 book Light on Yoga remains the definitive reference for asana and pranayama practice today.
His daughter Geeta S. Iyengar authored Yoga: A Gem for Women — the first book to set out the practice specifically for women, transforming how it adapts through menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. She was a great teacher in her own right, running RIMYI (the Pune institute) until she passed in 2018.
Mr Iyengar's defining insight was practical: everyday bodies carry tightness, injuries and structural differences, so he began using wooden bricks, bolsters, blankets, straps, and wall ropes to support the practice.
Props aren't a way to make a pose easier — they provide the safety and structural alignment that let a strong student explore deeper actions, while giving an injured or low-energy student the restorative support they need to heal.
The tradition's heart beats at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune. Today, Prashant Iyengar and Abhijata (B.K.S. Iyengar's granddaughter) continue the teaching alongside senior teachers trained directly under B.K.S. Iyengar.
Iyengar yoga is practised all over the world, with centres and teachers upholding the teachings of Guruji and his lineage. The Maida Vale centre opened 40 years ago under Iyengar's blessing, and classes from renowned teachers are held there every year. SWLSIY is the association of Iyengar yoga teachers across South West London and Surrey. It's not just "doing yoga" — when you step into a class here, you're joining a tradition.
The first UK Iyengar class, told by Iyengar Yoga UK →No matter where you are — at home, in the park, on a beach, the practice is within you.
Creating space, building strength, and nurturing calm.
The journey of motherhood brings profound physical and emotional changes. It begins well before conception and extends a year or more after giving birth. My own path was deeply shaped by this transition — it was my first pregnancy that drew me to the Iyengar method. As my body changed daily, the sequencing, alignment, and use of props supported me through every stage. The practice allowed me to feel myself in entirely new ways, connect deeply with the baby growing inside me, and gave me precious time to truly relax and let go.
Returning to the mat postnatal after my first child was a process of coming back to myself and finding physical freedom. Understanding that postpartum is a long, gradual journey, the practice helped me support the new challenges of taking care of a newborn. It allowed my body to get stronger while giving me a vital space to feel calm.
My second pregnancy raised even further challenges, as the body reacts differently after a first pregnancy. While many things felt familiar, a lot was new and quite challenging. Navigating this second chapter, and then recovering postnatally while caring for two young children, taught me so much as both a teacher and a student. It showed me just how essential it is to carve out that much-needed time for oneself.
Through the intelligent use of Iyengar props, we adapt the practice to exactly what your body needs on any given day. Classes will focus on finding inner alignment, correct action, and restorative practice:
Keeping your active practice going in a way that is comfortable and safe for you, creating space in the body, supporting the pelvis and spine, and finding relaxation.
Helping the changing body after giving birth — addressing issues in the lower and upper back, as well as the abdominal and pelvic regions. We focus on gently getting stronger while calming the nervous system.
Whether you are trying to conceive, currently pregnant, or navigating the first year of postpartum, I would love to support you on this wonderful journey. Every mother's path is unique, so please feel free to reach out to me to find the perfect fit for you — whether that is joining our regular classes, booking a 1:1 private session for tailored personal care, or expressing interest in forming a pregnancy or postnatal group. I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you on this path!
